This morning with all the cabinets emptied and everything off the counter, we began the removal of the old kitchen! I would never claim anything other than a helper to the guy who really knows what he’s doing, which is, of course, Philip! I really wish I could be more help, but I am very grateful for having such a talented son.

So here is the before – ceramic tiles, rather small drawers, narrow cupboards, and a very old dishwasher. Below the sink is a garborator that does not work and extremely poor drainage out of the sink. The fridge and oven are new…but apart from that everything goes!

It didn’t take long for boxes to come off the wall and off the floor. The plan was then to open up the walls to allow for some rewiring. Phil moves quickly and it seemed to me that he moves with confidence and precision.

This is just the beginning of course and tomorrow will see the wiring done and the drywall replaced!
While Phil was working away I stepped out on the backdeck – it was really warm and sunny today and I thought that I would get a sunburn! The apple tree is now empty but for a few leaves and the promise of cold weather is now on the horizon.
