The return to Listowel

I would be guessing if I said my last visit to Listowel was 1993 but I would that that would be fairly accurate.  Those of you who are aware of my keen sense of recall and my vivid memory will now say AMEN.

Wendy and I were appointed by TSA to this lovely rural setting north of Kitchener-Waterloo in 1983 and we spent four good years there.  During that time both Jason and Philip were born.

Today we stepped back into our history as we drove up highway 86.  Had we not been running so close to our schedule I would have stopped to get a good picture of the “parking lot” at the Amish Church were dozens of black buggies were parked with the horse hitched to the posts.  It didn’t resemble any other parking lot I know.

We delivered a crib and mattress to Jason and Susan – the baby will be born soon!  We are very excited – and I could see Wendy’s eyes lighting up as she watched Jason and I put the crib together.  Then when we discovered we couldn’t get the crib through the door of the baby’s room…we had to disassemble it and put it back together in the room!  Planning lesson number one…measure twice, cut once.  There’s a similar lesson here.
