I saw a posting tonight on Facebook…someone couldn’t find their address book. That’s why I love Gmail’s contact list. It’s always right where I put it. And if you need a map to the address there is a direct link to Gmail’s map service. Being a web-based service you never lose your address book!
I use to work off a more local email address…but since Jason introduced me to Gmail I’ve become an avid user. Gmail is not just a web based email service, but a way of tracking your contacts, shared calendar, shared documents, photos AND they have a great built in link to Twitter. The other service that is very neat is their audio and video conferencing.
While I can use Skype it requires the person I want to contact to have downloaded Skype and be at their computer. Gmail let’s me use text messaging, or if they are at their computer talk to them using just audio or adding in video.
Gmail also added a phone feature this year which allows me to connect through Gmail to any phone. We have used it quite a bit while travelling. Cost = $0.
So here’s the summary; free and web based services with an every growing list of applications! What do you use? Are you a Yahoo user? Is it better?
