Celebrating Cliff Flanagan – PTG

Last week I read that Aux. Captain Clifford Flanagan had been Promoted to Glory (The Salvation Army’s term for dying).  This great man had a significant impact upon my life in my early years.  When I was 7 years of age he asked my parents if they wanted me to learn to play an instrument.  He taught me to play a cornet – a shorter version of a trumpet, with a warmer, richer sound.

He was a good example of how one adult can make a big impact upon a child in a rather short time.  I never became a great cornet player but I’ll never forget his warm, encouraging manner.

Our Christmas tree is up…we’re a bit later this year.  Here’s last year’s post…which I just noticed has a huge spelling mistake in it!  Did you notice?  This was the lighting of the National Christmas tree by President Obama…what a coincidence!

One more celebration; the Montreal Canadiens are doing very well this season – take a look at the standings!
