Our roadway through the development is becoming increasingly difficult to navigate, so we’ve called on the snow removal team to come to our rescue. It’s strange in this northern city that snow removal has a completely different strategy than anywhere we’ve ever lived. In most cities, as the snow falls out come the plows pushing the snow to the side of the road. But in Edmonton, the snow falls, cars ride over it, and a thin, then not so thin layer of ice builds up. Then more snow, and more snow…and well, you have a bit of a disaster. And everyone seems to think this is, well, normal. Weird.
At coffee last week, we discovered that Wendy wasn’t the only one with a broken wrist – Alice also fell the day before Wendy. They were comparing casts, stories, and “how to get dressed with one hand” strategies.
Steve’s place remains empty…apparently too expensive for an unfinished basement. We await news. The contractor who was to replace our furnace in the clubhouse failed to show this morning – not a good sign of a reliable contractor.
And we are short on sunshine these days….our normally sunny winter has been replaced with cloud, snow, and very cold temperatures. However, the amount of daylight we are getting each day is increasing, and soon it will be time to put the clocks forward! Yes it will be time to SPRING forward.
