We were in Calgary over the weekend to welcome the new Chief Secretary and to hold some meetings with the division and the territory. It was a good three days and gave us a chance to connect with some our friends.

Calgary has always been a favourite city. I am by birth a Calgarian and we lived there for seven years, so it is also very familiar. I’ve often referred to Calgary as my hometown, not that I grew up there but I grew up “on the move”. Downtown Calgary is very active and a busy pedestrian corridor. We stayed three nights downtown and so saw it early morning and late at night too. The Calgary Tower was close by, and C-Train ran by the hotel, though I never heard it.

Just an hour from the mountains gives the city a special attraction for visitors, and we enjoyed the proximity of those mountains often take our day off to drive out to Banff and or Canmore. The mountains also play with the weather quite a bit and we had warmth in December and snow in July. Yes that’s what happens when you live so close to them.

We were there for work, and my team was great. I decided to stay out of the pictures but was pleased to see how well they did and how good they all looked. I was very proud of them.
But as I often say, I agree with Dorothy who said, “there’s no place like home”.
