Last evening as I drove east and then west on the same road, the sun was setting. It seemed dramatic, especially on my westbound trip heading home. The sun was coloured by the smoke in the air ,and the haze gave a ghostly outline to the downtown office towers.
On the prairies, the sun is a significant factor. There are few large buildings to hide it or rolling hills for it to duck behind. Our roads are not lined with tall trees that give you a mottled shade to take cover under. The sun is right in your face!
That’s why even when it is cold here, the sunshine really makes it bearable. I mean, can you even imagine living in a place where the clouds persist, hanging over the city or town for days and weeks and months? Living in a place like BC or Ontario. How do they do it?
And the sun makes for a great subject in a photo…who doesn’t love a good sunset. My early pictures captured these in Kodachrome! Remember that – Kodachrome 64 was my favourite, which leads to this…
