Today Nugget stayed with Uncle Phil and Aunt Amanda and we headed off into rural Alberta. Not far from Edmonton, about an hour’s drive is Onoway. A small town of about 1000 people. It was a lovely day – in the end we hit 28 C after too many days of very cool, very wet weather. It was nice to feel warm again.
Nearby of course, a quilt shop of sorts to visit. Turns out it has some quilting items, but more of the other crafts – even models to assemble – loved the balsa wood tri-plane from WW1, but too expensive for me.
The store is set in a large garage, well lit, and well laid out.
But the real treat was outside – chickens and turkeys wandering about…

The man who opened the shop for Wendy and looked after things was quite chatty with me – we talked hunting, guns, ammo and shootin’!!
It was a fascinating drive into part of the province we’ve driven through on our way to Grand Prairie but that was years ago.
Across the road from this place was a bison farm and they looked quite young – and skinny. Hmmm. Maybe lean bison meat.

I wanted to sing… home, home on the range…where the deer and the antelope play… At any rate here’s a couple of photos of the inside of the shop. Neat, tidy but not overly stoked for a quilter.

Then on to the town of Onoway, where we had a delicious lunch at the Burger Baron!

From there to home… and it was a good day! How was your day?
