June 17 will mark Nugget’s 6-month birthday, and what a change in him since we brought him home. He had never had a collar or a leash on, so we had to get him use to that. Seems simple – right? Not so – he really didn’t like that. Then there was the brushing. He’s a long haired dog that doesn’t shed, so that means brushing – everyday – and trimming that hair. The latter one we’re working through now, and he’s slowly getting use to that. And baths! That’s hillarious.

He came to us at just 3 lbs and now he’s 5 lbs. This week he has surgery for neutering and to fix a small hernia that is a result of the umbilical cord. That’s Tuesday morning. Friday he had blood work to prepare for that. This will be interesting.

As we work our way through puppyhood, he is slowly getting to a point where he’ll lay with us on the bed, or by us on the couch. He is a great companion.
