Winter on the prairies is quite different than the ones I have experienced east of here. I’ve spent winters in Newfoundland – the Avalon Peninsula – and in St. John New Brunswick as well as Southern Ontario, and those winters are dull, cloudy and have a not-so-lovely tone of cloud and darkness.
But out here – well sunshine is the common thread. It might be cold in comparison to the east, but as we say, it’s a dry cold. And of course it is sunny! Sunshine, sunshine, sunshine. We have a sky light in our livingroom (which also allows you to see planes flying over) and in the winter the sunshine just seems brighter. We love our skylight.

And then of course we have a lovely set of sliding glass doors at the back and in the afternoon we get bright sunshine into those doors and into the house. Our plants love that spot!

The featured photo here is from our front door camera – again – look at the sunshine! If you live in the east, pack your bags, get on your horse and ride out here pardner! Join us in the sunshine and enjoy our BIG blue skies and no PST.
