I was having a text chat lately – one of those odd new trends in my life and I suspect in many other people’s lives. We COULD phone each other….we’re both holding our phones, and it would cost us no more than texting, but somehow, we continue to pound out on our glass screens tiny letters to make up a conversation.
Weird when I think about it. We could do a video chat. We could call on our phones. We could even, if we wanted to, use an app to connect. Nope, text back and forth it is.

However we chose to connect, the point is, we all need to make connecting with others a priority. Isolation is too easy, being comfortable with ourselves is good but our mental health is improved by being with others, investing in others and being invested in. I have a folder in my inbox simply entitled “people to connect with”. It reminds me of the names of people who matter and who I want to connect with. And yes I add to it so it’s not stale.
When I think back to the people who invested in me, the people who showed interest and simply listened, well, I’m amazed. I am grateful to those people.

So let me finish with this – who will you be in touch with today? Who have you missed that you need to, want to talk to, or if you prefer – TEXT!
