It’s time for FOG again – that is Focus on God at the church. I’ve been asked to lead another Bible study which I am happy to do, but I have decided to take a different approach this time. Last year I took the traditional approach – read through the text, I would give some historical or cultural context and then we would dig into cross references and talk about the questions which rose from that. This time I’m using a video series from Daily Bread Ministries.

Daily Bread have these excellent resources which I have watched through several times. Joseph Stowell has an wonderful approach and standing on the sites of Ephesus, Sardis, Smyrna, etc leads the viewer through the text with daily application for us in 2024.

We were young officers – Lieutenants in Listowel when I read his book “Shepherding the Church into the 21 Century. I remember how he drew out the radically changing culture, which he observed was so different from that of his grandfather or father. He had nuggets of gold through the whole book.

We only have six weeks for our study, but there are more than that in videos so I will choose just the ones I need. I hope this will go well and if you want to say a prayer on Thursday nights for me we start this week!

It’s never too late to know what the book of Revelation is saying to the church…and especially the church in Canada today.
