Harvest time

There are quite few big tomatoes in the garden that are starting to turn colour – soon ripe for picking! It’s that time of year. It amazes me that these plants – some 6 feet tall – produce from such a tiny seed these beautiful fruits. Yes, I know it is a fruit.

I’m stuggling to get my carrots right – too close together again this year I fear and thus tiny carrots. No rabbits clamouring for them.

The raspberries are gone—mostly eaten by the grandkids while we were away. Now, all the old canes are cut back, and the first-year canes are tied back, awaiting next spring. My Arctic poppies showed up late this year and are about to flower for the first time.

I planted some beans – holy smoke they are big…and they may have needed to be picked earlier. Again – a large plant from some small seeds.

This wall gets LOTS of sun and this Malva has thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of flowers. I started this in late February.

Paul told the Galatians that we reap what we sow. I’ve been thinking about what we sow like friendship, kindness, faithfulness. Even submission and sacrifice have their value when it comes to sowing and reaping. Character comes from struggle.

I hope your garden is giving you some joy in the harvest and I hope you have blessings in your reaping.
