Afraid to go to work?

If you’re not feeling well and you work at Wells Fargo, you might want to think twice about going to work. Did you hear the news story? A female worker signed in to the building at 7 am on August 16 and was found dead at her desk on August 20. Four days later – imagine?

Is this about corporate culture, security lapses (is anyone checking the building), management failure, or all of the above?

As I listened to the news story I was simply amazed that this could happen – and no one noticed.

I don’t often post pictures of our food, but tonight’s supper was extra good. One of the changes in my retirement has been my increased participation in making or helping to make meals. I’m enjoying this very much, and so is Wendy. After decades of carrying the load for food prep she enjoys the partnership, If I have any regrets in life this might be one of them, that it took until now for me to be more involved in meal prep. She really carried the load of this for decades!

We were at Central Sewing this week. They have a terrific collection of OLD sewing machines. Unlike many places we’ve been these guys carry industrial machines – looking at them is fascinating. Heavy-duty machines that are made to do one thing – repeatedly – thousands of time – without failure!

These are residential machines, but many of them work and work well. They were built to last. I will be surprised if today’s machines are still going when they are this old. Of course, these were simple machines too – straight stitch for the most part and parts made out of metal.

And finally – it is now September! So here it is.
