Reading list

I received this book in the mail recently as a gift as suggested reading. It’s a current publication using data and analysis on the current state of The Church in Canada and the UK. Thankfully it avoids the trap of the USA or thinking there is anything similar between us and them! I’m still working my way through what is a very tiny print with pages loaded with line after line… I’m glad I got new glasses.

The second book I’m in is an audiobook by Liz Cheney. Now before you tar and feather me, let me ask you if you have read or listened to it. I would recommend it. It is a book filled with details; lots of data and a number of actual audio clips if you get the audiobook.

It is certainly a warning and if history is going to repeat itself, and it seems hard to believe, it will likely be worse than the last version.

The third book I’ve started is related somewhat to the book by LIz Cheney but is a more personal look at the events of January 6, 2020 when the Capitol Building in Washington DC was overrun by those attempting to stop the peaceful transfer of power. As Liz underlines this was the first time since when Abraham Lincoln was President. HOLD THE LINE is one man’s tale of the day.

Not mentioned it would seem very often is that five individuals died as a result of that attack on January 6th.

I enjoy reading – or listening – and I think aligns us to the goal of life long learning which is one of stated goal.
