Seeding the soil

It was a warm day of 11 degrees and the sun was shining – the snow melting! And Philip has his hydroponics going! And it’s February…time to get the pots filked with potting mix and the seeds into the ground.

I have some interesting plants for this year. Yellow pear tomatoes will make a return, I planted chocolate cherry tomatoes and a heritage seed – sub artic tomato plants which are designed for Alberta. I’ve started some flowers too – Violas and Blue Flax which is a ground cover.

The green house is up in the kitchen and light is on! The seeds should germinate in the next 6 to 12 days. Should be great to see the new life coming through the soil.

Meanwhile, Wendy’s cactus is blooming brightly! These are so beautiful and they explode rather quickly from bud to flower.

It sure feels like spring is coming soon! Our first plant up each spring is the bleeding heart – still rather really for that, but I will be happy when it comes up in the next few weeks.
