I’ve always thought I would like to own a Vespa – or some sort of scooter. Of course, in some countries, they are quite common. Our visits to Bermuda saw lots of scooters. It’s the common way to get around, cheap to run and you can park it almost anywhere.
Tourists used to be able to rent these, and perhaps they still can, but the locals say lots of tourists were injured during their vacation! I did try to drive one once, but we’ll leave that story for now.
You can read of these stories here or here.
Toronto was not the city to drive one, nor it seems to me is Edmonton.
The prices are interesting – a 50cc version (2023) is about $4500, and up to $9000 for the 300 cc version. But then, electric bikes are selling for $2500 and cup.
So what to do…?
Wendy bought me a Vespa for Christmas!!

And I don’t need to put it in the garage when I’m done.. now off to build it!

Of course, I assume if I bought a new one it would come assembled!

I think it took me about 15 minutes to get the back part done…and I’m really enjoying this project! There is a large version in Lego but I only wanted the small one.

I have a lego aquarium on my dresser – it is again not very big and having had an aquarium for about 40 years I thought it was a bit of a nod to a past hobby. And here’s the final product – it sits on my window ledge.

Not quite like Bermuda!
