Dear Stan and Debbie

We have friends in Ontario, friends in Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan… all over the place. We have friends in Germany whom we hope to visit one day soon and friends in Florida. Some of our friends have common ground with us because we’ve worked together. Some because we have common interests, and some because we just think they are the best! Enter Stand and Debbie.

Friday morning we had a great video chat with Stan and Debbie. Our history with them goes back a LONG way. I remember sitting in a class at 2130 Bayview Avenue and feeling, well… bored. I do not recall who was talking or for that matter what was being presented, but in retrospect they could have worked a bit harder at engaging us. Or me.

I had a pen, paper, and time. So I started a note to Stan and Debbie. It could have been that I thought in doing so the presenter would think I was taking notes. I was not.

I wrote, if I recall a note to them, several pages, in the style of the KJV and I think it was probably about life at CFOT. I do not recall if I referenced the class we were in. I do recall we were in the lecture hall. I suspect that my inventive presentation and the nature of my content was what brought them to the point of deciding to follow us – we went first – to CFOT and 2130 Bayview Avenue. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Further along the story of course we both had long service as Salvation Army officers and have now retired. They won the retirement contest for doing so in Florida. With a pool.

Now it happens that both Wendy and Debbie are into quilting and Debbie has been wanting to visit Hamiton Missouri – the Disney of Quilting. But alas Stan has refused to take her… I may be exaggerating that fact. However, we have been talking to them and Stan has softened – he now WANTS to take Debbie to Hamilton and we have agreed to return and meet them as part of a larger visit to Missouri and likely down to Branson! So here’s the video from last summer when we were there and I bumped into Misty Doan on the street and asked her to help us send a video to Stan and Debbie!

So today we started talking about this trip and the timing. I think it will be a great deal of fun and we’ll be with great friends!

Come on Stan – you can do it!
