When the plows come out

Yesterday morning we were up early as we were headed to St. Catharines to see Mom and have lunch with her. As usual, we join her for the service at the corps.

It was blue sky and sunshine leaving the house but as we rounded the west end of Lake Ontario by Hamilton we ran into heavy snow and out came the plows! I could see them – all three of them – as they headed down the QEW blocking all lanes. So with snow on the road and plows just ahead of us our arrival time was lost….we were late…30 minutes late!

We had a great day with Mom and enjoyed being with her for a few hours.

On another note, CBC reports that a man who was earning $140K per year working in the oil sands was laid off on January 8 and has now filed for bankruptcy – one month later. Good lord – what did he do with all that money? Sorry, but I just don’t see why you would allow your name to make the news in that way. I would say that there’s much more behind this story.

It was family day today in Ontario, and Alberta.  This is always a good day. And it’s the anniversary of when Phil fell off the mountain! Remember that Phil?
