The perennial question – where were you when Kennedy was shot? When something happens that is shocking – and perhaps tragic – we remember well where we were. I was only young so I don’t remember hearing about it on the radio – rather I remember the emotion of my Mom who told me as I came into the house. She was in the kitchen and obviously upset.
I was old enough to understand the significance of what was happening and later in the evening we sat in the living room watching our black & white television (with a 13 channel dial) as Walter Cronkite reviewed the events of the day and with significant emotion talked about the implications, the loss to a nation and to a family.
It’s been 50 years – if you can imagine that much time passing by – and the Kennedy family has continued to endure tragedy. And guns have continued to bring increased death and loss to United States.
