At some point Phil may tell you on his blog about his SPOT meter – a GPS unit that sends out a signal to let his contact list he is either a) in need of help or b) is OK!  Technology doesn’t replace common sense, but it is an amazing tool.

I’ve had two signals from him and when I click on the link I am taken to a map and receive a message.  See below for where he’s been out in the mountains.  He and Amanda are very fortunate to live where they do!
