A week of vacation in the Lake George area has come to an end and tomorrow we head towards the border. We have enjoyed the company of Adele and Harvey and the many activities that have made this a most enjoyable holiday. The weather, while hot, has been outstanding with lots of sun! The golf course was great, the shopping seems to have been a hit too. It would appear that the economic struggles in this country were working to our advantage with huge discounts on many things. With our strong dollar to boot we couldn’t pass up some “deals” and will be reporting to the border our final total.
Today we were out for a cruise on Lake George and part of that tour is what they call Millionaires row…or he may have said Billiionaires row. A variety of mansions, some new, some quite old make up this historic part of the lake front. One of the old houses, smaller than most but still imposing, caught our attention when the tour guides indicated that it had been owned by Evangeline Booth (“whose father began The Salvation Army” he reported). A quick search via Google couldn’t find me much more detail. Here’s a small reference.
Today is Wendy’s birthday – so we were out to celebrate! Again a very good day and a great way to end this week.
