In 1997 I was introduced to the concept of the Leader Coach. It was in the context of business and the person who gave me a book and talked to me about it was a senior executive in business. I didn’t see the connection frankly, and now I wonder what “in me” might be different if I had thought more about coaching, had given it some attention?
In 2005 I was invited to attend TSA’s Executive Leadership Development Program. That brought me again into the world of the Leader Coach. I was intrigued and this time the concept was one I began to embrace by reading and learning what I could. In 2007 I was invited to join the “Train the Trainer program” and again I was loving the challenge and the learning.
Time has moved along and the challenge of leadership has only become greater…so I came to the conclusion that I would like to engage a coach for myself. My friend David pointed me to a friend of his and so I’ve been able to engage a very generous offer which will give me monthly coaching.
So the adventure begins – I’m off this week to spend a couple of days with my coach and to explore this new relationship. As I’ve reflected on this I see the hand of God at work around me – providing for me in a way I could have never thought possible.
Here’s my prayer – from Psalm 139
As I go I’ll share some of the insights I gain in the journey.
